Bubble Station
A downloadable game
The story
The space station Horizonte has been abandoned for a while now. No one was paying attention to it, really. It opened many years ago as a science research center, since it was in a very good spot for reading a rare spectrum that caught the interest of many scholars. But years after, when a new, better spot for that reading was found and set, the whole investigation migrated to the new station. Horizonte then, served as a regular station for travelers, but the area wasn't really popular and eventually it decayed. No one knows how long it's been abandoned. From time to time, hobbyist and photographers who enjoy visiting and taking pictures of abandoned spots visited the place, had some fun and left, and that was it.
Until now.
One of those photographers discovered that the place had a strange sphere around it, almost as if it was absorbing the whole place. After taking some pictures from the outside, they ventured to get closer and eventually entered in the station, as the giant bubble sort of seemed safe to them, after a brief inspection. The photographer reported that the station looked like a giant garden on the inside, sort of like a park, but not artificial. They were amazed and took hundreds of pictures, but somehow the camera could only capture an old, dusty station, with broken walls and ripped rooms. Nevertheless the photographer affirmed they were able to see the garden, but their words were sort of ignored since they couldn't remember how they got out of there back to their ship, either. Everyone assumed they were just lying or at least under some sort of hallucination. The case was overlooked, but some curious people decided to take a look on their own, as well, and suddenly more strange stories came out. Each time, each experience, seemed different. Some saw a huge beach or other nature landscapes, but others saw palaces, countryside homes, their home planet... There were so many similar stories, so so many that they began to capture the attention of the science community. They were at first disregarded, as they were believed to be a tale or some sort of group hallucination, but at some point it was just impossible to ignore. Part of the researching community was genuinely interested in the event, while the other part was aiming to finally prove it wrong. Some papers started to come out, first were the physiology researchers, and eventually more and more experts started getting interested in the then so-called Bubble Station. It was clear that a multidisciplinary approach was required to break the mystery, and a team of investigators from different areas was assembled for that purpose.
One of those people is Kade, who will review the diaries of their colleagues and note down some more information about the event.
The game
This is a physical game created for the GGJ that requires a special set of tools. One is an Oracle, which is a custom tarot-like origami (for the origami diversifier in the Jam) which can be downloaded. The other is a special D4 that was handmade crafted, but a regular D4 can be used if adapted.
Enjoy!
Follow the how was it done in my blog (Spanish) as part of the documentary diversifier:
